The Jacks Canyon climbing area is situated at 6200 feet, in a high desert environment just north, and off of, the Mogollon Rim. Winslow lies in a depression at 4800 feet on the Colorado Plateau, 30 miles north of the Rim and the Jacks climbing areas. Happy Jack (the nearest weather station) is situated up on the Rim, 25 miles south of the climbing area, at 7500 feet. The Jacks climbing areas are invariably cooler and wetter than Winslow while usually warmer and drier than Happy Jack. To check current weather or predict future weather based on weather reporting stations, it's best to look at both the Winslow and Happy Jack data and figure something inbetween. The National Weather Serivce provides a "point forecast" based on latitude, longitude and elevation.
